High-Temperature Deformation Behavior of the AZ31 Alloy Processed by Double-Sided FSW Technology

Generally, AZ31 magnesium alloys have poor formation ability near room temperature. This material, with ultrafine grains, usually exhibits excellent superplasticity at high Therefore, the preparation of materials suitable microstructures to obtain is an important goal. In this study, double-side FSW (Friction Stir Processing) process was applied on AZ31Mg alloy microstructure ultra-fine grains. The effect and mechanism evolution elaborated. Meanwhile, effects deformation parameters, temperature, strain rate flow behavior joint were systematically comparatively studied. It found that center could much finer grains average grain size 9.6 μm compared rolled (25.9 μm). temperature results showed optimum elongation (446%) achieved 450 °C 0.0003 s−1, which far greater than (20.8%). parameters samples
